Coulter Talks About Mini-skirts and Dating Models

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

Photo by Shonna ValeskaI had to pass on this interview with Ann Coulter in Paper Magazine.  It’s always great to read interviews with interesting questions and interviewer Fabian Basabe doesn’t disappoint.

Fabian Basabe: Having lived in New York, have you ever attended Fashion Week in New York?
Ann Coulter: No, though I’d like to just be at a cocktail party where I could talk to people eye to eye.

FB: We have both had our troubles with The New York Observer. They called you “the Republican Michael Moore”, and “Rush Limbaugh in a miniskirt.” Don’t you think your legs are much better than Rush or Moore’s?
AC: Don’t knock Rush Limbaugh’s legs — they’re better than Hillary’s.

FB: Time magazine took an unflattering cover shot of you with a fish eye lens. Which fashion photographer would you most like to shoot your next Time cover and in what setting?
AC: SHONNA VALESKA! She shot the cover photo on my next book. (If Democrats Had any Brains, They’d Be Republicans — in bookstores Oct 2.) Shonna also shot the best photo ever taken of me for… Time magazine. Time didn’t use that photo, instead choosing one of me mid-blink. (The photo editors are either blind or there’s some sort of ideological agenda at work. I can’t decide.) It is now available in poster size from Young America’s Foundation.

FB: You frequently appear in short skirts. Whose skirts do you like this season?
AC: Hmmm, I’m not sure. What’s John Edwards wearing? We seem to wear the same panties.

Cougar Fight!

Actress and pro-life advocate Patricia Heaton recently commented on actress Sally Fields’ acceptance speech at the Emmys.

Fields said, “And, let’s face it, if the mothers ruled the war, there would be no (expletive) wars in the first place.”

Heaton said, “I’ve actually become a more violent person since I became a mother.  If someone came between me and my kids, they’d be dead meat.  So I didn’t agree with that particular statement.”

By the way, imagine what people in China and Venezula must think of America’s definition of “censorship.”  Everyone from Drudge to CBS to Shepherd Smith referred to Sally Fields as being “censored” at the Emmys.  Then, they proceeded to print all of her comments or show the video over and over again.  If that’s censorship, then hand me a microphone.

Wow, I guess women really do think alike

The Associated Press is reporting that former Senator Lincoln Chafee (?-RI) is leaving the GOP.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Former Sen. Lincoln Chafee said he has left the Republican Party because the national GOP has drifted too far from him on critical issues, including the war in Iraq, the economy and the environment.

“It’s not my party anymore,” Chafee, who represented Rhode Island from 1999 until 2007, told The Providence Journal in an article published Saturday.

Chafee said he is now an unaffiliated voter after leaving the GOP “in June or July.”

He said he made the move because “I want my affiliation to accurately reflect my status.”

During his last year in the Senate, Chafee had the exact  same American Conservative Union Rating (12) as Senators Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein, Debbie Stabenow and Hillary Clinton.

ACU Files FEC Complaint Against MoveOn.org and NY Times

Monday, September 17th, 2007

From the ACU’s press release:

Alexandria, VA – American Conservative Union (ACU) chairman David A. Keene announced today that ACU has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) against MoveOn.org Political Action and the New York Times Company for violation of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, as amended and the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002.

On Monday, September 10, 2007, MoveOn sponsored a full page advertisement in the New York Times attacking General David Petraeus prior to his report to Congress regarding the status of the United States military operations in Iraq. The open rate for a full page black and white advertisement in the New York Times is $181,692. MoveOn only paid $65,000 for the ad, according to multiple press reports.

The New York Times Company’s “discount” is in effect a corporate soft money contribution to a federal political committee. MoveOn’s acceptance of this corporate soft money contribution exceeds federal contributions and is a clear violation of FEC laws.

“ACU demands a full and thorough investigation of the cost of the Ad and the discount given by the New York Times Company to MoveOn.org Political Action, for payment by MoveOn of the usual and normal charge for the costs of the Ad and the requisite civil money penalty for violation of federal law by each of the Respondents,” ACU Chairman David A. Keene stated in the FEC complaint.

Current… the boring word for Now!

Al Gore just “won” a random award on the Primetime Emmys for his internet-based Current TV

Yawn.

Thankfully, there weren’t any other nominees, so there’s no need for a recount.  Gore got a standing ovation, which sort of takes away from the standing ovation the audience gave the cast of Roots (which deserved it).   Step aside yellow ribbons and American flags, the Left’s bumper sticker is “Election 2000 Recount: NEVER FORGET!”

UPDATE: Steve Colbert and Jon Stewart have a good bit about the “Green Emmys.”  Colbert says his leaf blower runs on Al Gore’s tears.

The September 11 Generation Doesn’t Forget

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007
Last week I wrote about students who are bucking the trend of today’s college campuses and speaking out as conservatives. After reading my column mentioning high school senior Toni Woods, her teacher asked her, “Why would anyone talk about a 16-year-old no-nothing?” Gee, I wonder why only graying hippies and bra-burners want to attend left-wing conferences?

After word got around about the article, another teacher called Toni a “traitor.” After years of teaching with a liberal bias, Toni went off and became a conservative. How dare she! There are thousands of young conservatives (especially Joe Logue who has dreams about the Fair Tax) that walk into classrooms every day with a smile and the intent to annoy their liberal professors.

At the risk of getting Toni in more trouble with her teachers, I thought I’d dedicate another column to her and other students that are the real rebels on today’s high school and college campuses. Last September 11, Toni participated in the 9/11: Never Forget Project. She single-handedly raised money for supplies and constructed a 9/11 memorial with flags for the 2,977 lives lost that day. She also put up posters around the school in order to educate her fellow students about the war on terrorism and those who fought for freedom. Apparently, this is considered traitorous by some teachers at Amherst County High School. The memorial was a huge success, garnering coverage in several newspapers and local radio and TV stations. Toni told me, “I still have people come up to me in the grocery store say ‘You’re the girl that did the flags’ and they thank me. I never thought I could do something that would have such an impact on people, but the memorial really did.”
