Love Animals, Hate Animal Rights Activists
I just stumbled upon this collection of crazy quotes from animal rights activists. Even BOTUS thinks they go to far.
“We feel that animals have the same rights as retarded children.”
-Alex Pacheco, Director, PETA, New York Times, January 14, 1989.“The life of an ant and that of my child should be granted equal consideration.”
-Michael W. Fox, Vice President, The Human Society of the United States, The Inhumane Society, New York, 1990.“Six million Jews died in concentration camps, but six billion broiler chickens will die this year in slaughter houses.”
-Ingrid Newkirk, President, PETA, The Washington Post, November 13, 1983.“Arson, property destruction, burglary and theft are ‘acceptable crimes’ when used for the animal cause.”
-Alex Pacheco, Director, PETA
By the way, this is a good time to remind people that “anti-animal cruelty” groups are different from the “animal rights” groups listed here. Anti-animal cruelty groups deserve your support. Oh, and Michael Vick should burn in hell.

The last quote is my favorite. I’m going to recite it to my stupid animal crazed, tree-hugging Public Speaking teacher. She’s going to hate it…and me.

First, Alex Pacheco has not been with PETA or any other animal rights organization for decades. Second, most animal rights people do not support property destruction — even though destroying property to save a life is, on its face, commonly considered a reasonable ethical calculation.
Before you criticize animal rights, you should read the book Animal Liberation and hear their arguments. There are many forms of bigotry that say just because someone looks different, they don’t matter as much, and bigotry based on whether you have light skin or dark; male or female organs; hair or fur; feet or hooves, are all equally indefensible. We all have feelings and deserve to have our feelings taken into fair account. In the case of severely retarded humans, they can’t even use intelligence as as argument for preferred treatment. So, yeah, we should start treating animals with the same respect we treat the severely retarded — not giving them the right to vote, but at least the right not to be enslaved, tortured, and killed for the pleasure of others. We should stop treating individuals differently because of their looks.
