Progressives Agree: “God’s Chosen People” Are Racist

Following the outrage over Ann Coulter’s interview with CNBC’s Donny Deutsch, members of the media used it as an opportunity to tell the American people that they should be offended by her restatement of Christian doctrine and the New Testament.

Given that there are billions of people of all denominations who believe their religion to be the path to salvation, it’s not much of a stretch for those religions to cite their virtues over those of other religions.

Coulter said, “That is what Christians consider themselves, perfected Jews.” Let’s apply the media’s hysteria about “perfected Jews” to another religious tenet. The following is a satirical illustration of the use of the term “God’s chosen people.” None of the quotes are made up, but perhaps they give a more honest view of how “progressives” feel about Judaism.

It is worth mentioning that Muslims more or less view themselves as ‘perfected’ Christian and Jews. The concept of “People of the Book” recognizes that other people have been given a prophet, a revelation leading to religion. Muslims view their prophet as the last word from God and therefor, the ‘perfected’ and final addition to the religion of Abraham, monotheism. It should not seem strange that the revelations provided by Jesus, whether one considers him a prophet or divine or both, have always been viewed as further explaining or progressive revelation just as those who believe in Islam view the revelations provided to Mohammed. It is only the ignorance of liberals about theology that leads to such stupid vapidity.

I am an Orthodox Jew who was not offended by Ann Coulter’s comment. As someone who has a basic knowledge of Christian doctrine, I am aware that the “Perfected Jews” ideology is a tenet of the religion. I disagree with it immnsely, as I would never consider leaving my faith or believing in another faith, but I have no resentment over that statement. That said, I did not understand the tone of your article, and whether you were seriously offended by the “Chosen people” statement. If not, I apologize for missing the tone, but if so, I am offended. i am not one to wave my banner of Judaism, it is just who I am in my core, soul and observances. But to take issue with a statement that is part of our liturgy, prayer service and birthright, because it “leaves Christians out” or “makes Muslims feel lesser”, well that’s ridiculous! It’s a tenet of what we believe! It is a mantra that has gotten us through thousands of years of hardship and oppression! I am fully against anyone taking issue with this phrase, and I take it as an affront to a religion that I believe in and hold as dearly as anyone of any other religion.
