Oh $%@!, George Carlin is Dead

Written by Lotus on Monday, 23 of June , 2008 at 11:56 am

It was reported this morning that comedian George Carlin, 71, died after a history of heart trouble.  Carlin is one of the few on the Left that understood that political correctness is the enemy of comedy.  Last summer he was on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.  Also a guest that night was Ann Coulter.  When Carlin moved to the next seat so Coulter could sit down he said, “I never thought I’d be moving to Ann Coulter’s right.”

George did behave himself on that Tonight Show but only did so because he knew how brilliant and powerful Annie’s mind is. Why should he start a battle only to be left in humiliated defeat on your back. This disappointed Jay Leno and the Left.
But good for George for being nice. Good for Annie too, but she’s always that way.

I saw that show, and it followed a brilliant comedic word play/monologue by Carlin. One got the impression that both guests admired and respected each others satirical work, I dont think Carlin was cowed in any way. Leno was indifferent, he baited with some “try to be nice” platitudes but you could hear him yawning through an interview for a book he hadnt read. Missed opportunity: he had in himself a standup comedian, a Juvenalian satirist in Coulter and a Horatian satirist Carlin and Leno stuck with the non-controversies over the 9/11 widows.

That was a great episode of “The Tonight Show.” There had been speculation in the media all day as to whether or not Leno would have to play “referee” that evening. Both Carlin and Coulter, however, proved that two people with diametrically opposing view points could share a stage and behave, in what appeared to be, a genuinely respectful manner towards one another.

The crowd loved both of them. There was definitely no fear of Ann on the part of Carlin or vice versa. He wasn’t there to debate her, nor was she there to engage him. They were their to promote their own works and they did so brilliantly, each with their own unique style and charm. It was a good scene all the way around.

George has said before that he is neither democrat nor republican anyway. But, he is and of course always has been a strong advocate of free speech / first amendment rights, and has fought big court battles over it. Annie and George are in perfect agreement with that and other issues too. Each with that dynamite Irish wit and mischievous style. Love it - great t.v. moment.

And after Carlin made the ‘move to the right’ crack he gave Ann a playful punch in the arm. It was kinda sweet, actually.

Favorite moment: Ann and Jay are discussing how her book “Godless” has so upset liberals:

Ann: “I understand you had an Ann Coulter joke last night, Jay.”
Leno: “Oh, I have a bunch of Ann Coulter jokes all the time.”
Ann: “…that I was worried about Dorothy’s house falling on me.”
Leno: “Yeah…”
Ann: “Well, from MY perspective, I’m Dorothy…
Leno: “Really!?”
Ann: “And I just dropped my house on the mainstream media!”

Haha, gotta love it (I saved the show and am watching the segment right now),

Wish I could’ve seen the Tonight show segment with Ann and George. I love our Ann. I hope someday to be able to sit down and tell her how much her books and appearances have meant to me. Her mom and dad must be wonderful folks. Want to say that I always enjoyed George Carlin…since I was just a kid in the 60s. Thanks for the chance to say so.

George Carlin, like any true Irishman would, was weak kneed by the beauty and charm of the lovely Ann Coulter. It was a truly great moment as I am sure both realized deep down they were kindered souls, each having the desire to leave a mark of their great minds upon this great big world.

I have always found it revealing that “comedians”, especially secular and Jewish ones, seem to only make fun of the Christian God.

Yet aren’t there a whole LOT of gods out there? Why yes, there are.

And if you toss a dart at a map, and it hits a prosperous, safe, well fed nation with individual freedoms and opportunity, it hit a Christian nation - specifically, a PROTESTANT Christian nation.

The Catholic nations suck as badly as all the other idol bowing nations.

Oddly enough, the next most prosperous nations are the atheistic nations of China and Russia. It’s almost as if a Jealous Christian God is saying, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me [before my eyes].” But we know that can’t be true, cuz Christians are all idiots, right?

Is my dart hysterical? Is it brainwashed? Is it a victim of going to too many Baptist Conventions?

Or is it simply pointing out the obvious, that “Blessed is the nation whose God is the [Christian] Lord”?

Are you listening, Buddhism? Islam? Hinduism? Zoroastrianism? Evolution? Where are the blessings of your gods and your beliefs upon the world? Where is the manifestation of glory? Where is the food that falls from YOUR master’s table to feed “even the dogs” such as me? Yet my God’s people feed virtually every culture on the face of this Earth. And we’ll feed Mars, too.

George Carlin spent his life bashing Christ, who spent His life loving and dying for George.

I hope for George’s sake, that he was right about Jesus, and not the other way around.

Now go and bash someone else’s god for a change, all you dart-hating comedians out there.
