Missed opportunity: he had in himself a standup comedian, a Juvenalian satirist in Coulter and a Horatian satirist Carlin and Leno stuck with the non-controversies over the 9/11 widows.

That was a great episode of “The Tonight Show.” There had been speculation in the media all day as to whether or not Leno would have to play “referee” that evening. Both Carlin and Coulter, however, proved that two people with diametrically opposing view points could share a stage and behave, in what appeared to be, a genuinely respectful manner towards one another.

The crowd loved both of them. There was definitely no fear of Ann on the part of Carlin or vice versa. He wasn’t there to debate her, nor was she there to engage him. They were their to promote their own works and they did so brilliantly, each with their own unique style and charm. It was a good scene all the way around.
