I enjoy most of your posts. Those on the environmental gathering in California were wonderful. Those on Ann are equally so, as well as insightful. What are your views on Sarah Palin? I still have a McCain-Palin bumper sticker on my car, with McCain blacked out. I removed on that read “The Presidency: Below Obama’s Pay Grade.” If he continues as he has, I may put it on again.
I like Governor Palin. Having been a Legislative Director for a GOP Congressman in the early ’80s, I’d strongly advise her to bone up on those policy areas where she’s not had broad exposure. It really isn’t that difficult to do. Policy analysis papers from the Republican Study Committee, CATO, and the Heritage Foundation were terrific as mini-courses on everything from education policy (education is not a Federal issue as their ham-handed dealings with it have shown) to energy to national defense to you name it. If a topic was unavailable from them, I used to research it for the Congressman and summarize the strongest points on both sides of an issue so that he understood the opposition’s case as well as the Conservative position.
Governor Palin certainly has enough time in which to study the many issues that she’ll face if she chooses to become a national candidate again. She’s already knowledgeable and articulate in several areas, needing only to catch up in a few others. The process of doing so would be challenging perhaps, but I suggest it would also be quite enjoyable.
Even if she doesn’t choose to become a national candidate, becoming well versed on a broad range of issues will make her a far more effective spokeswoman for the GOP, for Conservatives and for women.
